There are a lot of teachers that shouldn’t even be teaching at all. They don’t know how to teach in a way were students understand the lessons. I had a math teacher a few years ago who would rush through the lesson, basically talk to herself while writing the notes on the board. She would scribble away like a mad scientist. As soon as someone asked a question about what she had just gone over she would start talking to them as if they were a complete idiot. Of course it would be in front of the class, so everyone would know about it.

I had to stay after school one day because I wasn’t understanding what the lesson was that day and needed extra help. I asked her a question about one of the problems and she just looked at me like I was out of my mind. She then started to talk down to me and make me feel completely stupid. It didn’t help anything, it didn’t make her look good. So after that I never stayed after or got extra help again, no matter how lost I was.

Students in that class started to not ask questions anymore. Everyone I sat with agreed that she made them feel stupid when they asked a question. About half way through the school year my teacher left to go have a baby. We didn’t get a new math teacher we just got subs who knew nothing about math. One sub we had told us he was a history teacher and knew nothing about math. He just sat outside the door in the sun and read his book while we did whatever we wanted to in the classroom.

The rest of the year we didn’t learn anything, we would just hang out in the class and talk the whole time. We had nothing to do. When the end of the year rolled around they gave us the final. Everyone thought they were crazy, we didn’t know any of the stuff on the final. We all took the final and a few days later found out that the highest grade was a 75%. They gave us a lecture on how we need to get our grades up and everything. After that day everyone went home and told their parents what happened, parents started coming into the school to talk to the CEO about getting the final removed.

They tried to use the excuse of that our teacher was having her baby so she had to leave. It didn’t even make sense, because they could have gotten us a sub that could actually teach us something instead of a new sub every time who didn’t know anything about math. Eventually enough parents complained and they got rid of the final. All the students were given the grade that they had before the final.

I think that if the majority of the class isn’t getting good grades that teacher can be fired. They shouldn’t be teaching if they don’t do a good job. Why should students suffer because a teacher isn’t doing a good enough job. Not everyone is cut out to be a teacher, the teachers who don’t really like their students shouldn’t teach either. Teachers really need to like their students to do a good job. Also lazy teachers who just have the students do presentations all of the time just because they don’t want to teach is pretty low too. I have a teacher like that now and it drives me crazy. Everyone knows that nobody learns anything from presentations by the students. That’s why we are the students and not the teachers.

If I wanted to teach I would become a teacher, but I don’t so don’t make me present. I just want to learn about what should be taught. I want to learn for me, not everyone else.
